May – Bowls at Quilt Gallery in Kalispell, MT and Eugene, OR Bowls, Art Bowls, Quilt in a Bowl, Fiber Bowls, Fabric Bowls, however we call them they are three dimensional fiber works in the shape of a bowl varying from 14” to 18” in diameter. We start with a base of heavy-duty canvas and fuse layers of fabric in a pleasing design.

May – Quilt Gallery in Kalispell, MT Next stop was Kalispell, Montana where Quilt Gallery invited me to teach a longer version (5 days) of my Curves & More workshop. Pollen was at its peak and my lungs felt it! A very enthusiastic group of students created beautiful work through the use of free form curved piecing techniques.

April - Empty Spools Seminars Spring Classes started with Empty Spools Seminars, where I taught a 5-day In And Around Town workshop at Asilomar in Pacific Grove, CA. City scapes, street scapes, villages, neighborhoods, castles, houses, barns, doors, windows, anything that has a dwelling or part of it serves as inspiration for this workshop and this year we even had historic water towers and tank houses of Sonoma County, CA.

Section 4 – Finish Edges and Stitch Now onto finishing the edge of the bowl: after applying fusible web to the fabric you’ll be using for this, cut a few on-the-bias strips about ¾” wide and altogether long enough to cover the entire circumference of your bowl. I didn’t cut them on the bias because I didn’t have enough fabric…it was just a bit trickier but it worked.

Section 3 – Fine-tune Design The first thing to do is to “hide" all the zigzag stitches inside and outside of your bowl. I usually start with the outside to get this out of the way. Apply fusible web to a piece of fabric you used on the outside of your bowl.
