Every year our MIX group comes up with a theme for an exhibit in Portland. These exhibits then travel to other venues throughout the years. The theme for 2021 is “As I See It” and we could add anything we wanted to that phrase, before or after. I decided on the title and theme “2020 – As I See It”

My Art Goes To School

Yes, my quilts go to school in North Clackamas, Oregon! About a year ago, in the fall of 2018, Cindy Detchon, Executive Director, Community Relations of the North Clackamas School district contacted me about using my art in a new public school. She asked if I would be interested in having images of some of my forest themed quilts turned into vinyl panels to be installed on the walls of a new elementary school they were building in Happy Valley, North Clackamas.

A few years ago during an unusually wet and grey winter in Portland I decided to make flowers, yes, flowers made with canvas and fabric. I enjoyed making them and giving them away for special occasions to dear friends. Pretty soon I received requests to teach a class but my reply was always “they are just miniature fiber bowls with a little mounting engineering, you can do it”.
