Hilde looks for simplicity and balance in her compositions utilizing a bold color palette. Her creations are influenced by her multi-cultural background and travels. She tries to represent the reality by simplifying or suggesting it through either abstract or primitive designs.
Hilde Morin was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Of Belgian descent, currently resides in Portland, Oregon, USA. After working for 20 years in the corporate world, Hilde embraced her innate ability for color and fiber art and focused on developing these skills. She exhibits at local and international venues including SOFA (Sculptured Objects and Functional Art) Chicago and New York, Museum of the Americas, Florida and CIART (Centro Integral de Arte Textil) in Argentina.
She teaches regularly at various Portland locations where she promotes the combined use of free form and traditional techniques in the construction of art quilts. She also conducts quilting workshops in Córdoba, Argentina at the CIART textile center and pro-bono quilting workshops through charity organizations.
